Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
ENDOSIM is a haptic flexible endoscopy simulator that realistically reproduces physiological responses, tool behaviour and the feel of the scope. It allows a complete novice to gain the skills needed before putting a scope into a patient for the first time.
The platform provides force feedback on insertion and rotation, scopes with full insertion length tubes and a tool channel, and a haptic unit that detaches and works as a desktop unit. Every exercise is recorded with detailed metrics, and an administration mode supports course planning and exercise configuration.
The module library covers fundamental and therapeutic endoscopic skills, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and bronchoscopy, with customisable scenarios and complications and increasing levels of difficulty.
What you learn
Patient simulator modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
- Handle the flexible endoscope: insertion, rotation, buttons and angulation knobs.
- Navigate the upper GI tract to the duodenum and the colon to the caecum.
- Avoid and reduce loops during colonoscopy.
- Carry out a systematic mucosal examination, including retroflexion.
- Document the upper GI examination by photographing the eight ESGE-defined locations.
- Target specific sites with the scope and take biopsies.
- Practise repeatedly at increasing levels of difficulty before the first patient contact.
