Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
EMERGEX MENTOR is a hybrid emergency care simulator that combines a physical upper torso manikin with immersive virtual reality. Trainees wear a VR headset, feel emulated instruments in their hands (laryngoscope, ET tube, bag valve mask, stethoscope and suction tube) and treat a patient whose condition evolves dynamically.
The virtual environment is registered 1:1 with the manikin, so what trainees see matches what they touch, and the system tracks the instruments even inside the patient’s mouth and throat. A single gesture switches patient and scenario: from intubation in the emergency department to prehospital trauma at a car accident, a shooting, a fight or a fire.
It is designed for emergency physicians, critical care teams, anaesthetists, paramedics, EMTs, first responders, military medics and simulation centres. It supports table-based hospital scenarios and floor-based prehospital set-ups, and the MentorLearn management system records objective performance metrics.
Two configurations are available, both with the eight scenario modules included: the base platform and the portable version in a Pelican case.
What you learn
Patient simulator modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
- Assess the airway with the LEMON method and anticipate a difficult intubation.
- Perform the complete tracheal intubation workflow: pre-oxygenation, drug-assisted sedation, tube placement and confirmation.
- Apply techniques such as jaw thrust and the BURP manoeuvre.
- Handle emulated instruments: laryngoscope, ET tube, bag valve mask, stethoscope and suction tube.
- Make rapid clinical decisions in prehospital trauma scenarios following PHTLS-aligned protocols.
- Respond to dynamic complications and to vital signs that change with patient management and drug administration.
- Stay focused on the patient in stressful, distracting environments.
Cases and pathologies
The clinical scenarios that can be simulated with this equipment.
- Platform orientation: headset set-up, interface navigation and hardware calibration
- Airway management, basic skills: LEMON assessment and full intubation with real-time instructions and visual cues
- Critically ill patients with severe respiratory compromise: hypoxia, fever and altered mental status
- Complete tracheal intubation across patients with varying physiological reserve and clinical complexity
- Operator-assisted and autonomous training modes
- Car accident: multi-trauma
- Street shooting: haemorrhagic shock from penetrating gunshot wounds
- Bar fight: lacerations and bleeding wounds
- Burning building: inhalation injuries and burns
