Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

Baby Lulu is a silicone birthing manikin of a 26-week extremely premature baby representing a newborn girl of African descent. Functionally equivalent to Baby Lara, it broadens the diversity of skin tones in neonatal simulation programmes and is designed for delivery room simulation of very preterm births. Its preemie scale and the detachable placenta with cord allow cord clamping and cutting to be integrated into the preterm birth workflow.

It is combined with a simulation uterus and abdomen for vaginal birth or caesarean section scenarios. The umbilical stump allows practice of UAC and UVC catheterisation and connects to the long cord and placenta. The integrated lungs, with visible chest rise, allow training in airway positioning and bag-valve-mask ventilation. Adding it helps simulation centres reflect the population they serve.
