What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

An important aid for understanding the difference between the histology of the artery and that of the vein. This one-piece model represents one artery and two veins in great detail. One of the veins is sectioned longitudinally to show the venous valves closed and open; the artery and the right vein are sectioned transversally, so that the different layers, such as the tunica media, the elastic membrane and the tunica adventitia, are easily recognised. Mounted on a base.
