Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
This 3D printed heart displays the internal structures of all chambers. The superior and inferior vena cava enter the right atrium, revealing the pectinate muscles of the auricle and the nearly translucent fossa ovalis.
Right Atrium and Ventricle
The right atrioventricular (tricuspid) valve with its three cusps is exposed, along with chordae tendineae and papillary muscles. The conus arteriosus leads to the pulmonary semilunar valve, and the right coronary artery continues posteriorly to the posterior interventricular artery.
Left Atrium and Ventricle
The pulmonary veins enter the left atrium, and the left atrioventricular (mitral) valve with associated chordae and papillary muscles is visible. The left ventricle shows well-developed trabeculae carneae, and the aortic semilunar valve sits at the base of the aorta.
Coronary Arteries
The left coronary artery gives rise to the left anterior descending, diagonal, ramus intermedius, and circumflex branches. The circumflex passes near the coronary sinus, while the left anterior descending penetrates the myocardium and emerges near the apex.
What you learn
Anatomical model modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
- Identify the interior of the cardiac chambers and the valve apparatus.
- Follow the path of blood through the four chambers.
- Recognise the interventricular septum and the conduction system.
- Relate the internal anatomy to the echocardiographic planes.
Cases and pathologies
The clinical scenarios that can be simulated with this equipment.
- Valve stenosis and regurgitation.
- Atrial and ventricular septal defect.
- Endocarditis and its sites.
- Teaching echocardiography and haemodynamics.
Features and what's included
What the equipment does and what comes in the box, as described by the manufacturer.
Features
- 3D printed replica made from radiological data or from a dissected cadaveric specimen, not a stylised model: this is real anatomy.
- Developed and checked by the anatomists of the Human Anatomy Teaching Centre at Monash University.
- Colourised to distinguish muscle, nerve, artery, vein and bone, and to separate territories or segments.
- Not human tissue: no restrictions on transport, import or use in institutions without permission to work with cadavers.
- Avoids the ethical and preservation problems that come with plastination.
- Supplied with a detailed description of the anatomy represented in the specimen.
Services for this equipment
Services matter: the equipment gets commissioned, the staff know how to use it and maintenance is settled before you start. Include them in your budget and avoid having to raise a second purchase.
