Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

BabyWorks brings infant and newborn ultrasound into a setting where getting it wrong costs nothing. The manikin reproduces the palpable anatomical landmarks of an infant and responds to the probe as the patient would, with ultrasound sweeps taken from real cases.

It allows you to teach procedures that are hard to practise on a child and are simply not rehearsed on a neonate: transoesophageal echocardiography, lung ultrasound, cerebral assessment. From the instructor tablet you can change the pathology, the severity and the heart and respiratory rates mid-exercise, which turns the session into a test of decision-making and not only of technique.

It was developed with paediatric and neonatal specialists, among them Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
