Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

Durable silicone caesarean section model that can be worn by a standardised patient or placed on various manikins. Its abdominal cavity reproduces the intestines, aorta, inferior vena cava and bladder, and holds a flexible silicone uterus with Baby Aiden, the placenta and a short umbilical cord. Everything is covered with a pregnant abdomen skin with stretch marks and vulva.

It allows training in caesarean section with a standardised patient, perimortem caesarean section on a manikin, urinary catheterisation, newborn care and incision, suturing and repair. It can be configured for vaginal birth, cord prolapse, bleeding at the incision or postpartum haemorrhage, and its aorta and inferior vena cava bloodlines connect to external pumps.

Baby Aiden represents a full-term newborn of 38 to 40 weeks and supports bag-valve-mask ventilation with visible chest rise. For safety and privacy, the standardised patient can wear clothing under the model.
