Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

The model reproduces the chest and neck of a patient lying supine with the arms behind the head. The clavicle, sternum, ribs, intercostal spaces and nipple can be clearly palpated to locate the puncture site.

An external foot pump inflates the model to simulate unilateral or bilateral pneumothorax. Puncture at the second intercostal space gives a clear loss of resistance and allows the air to be aspirated. The neck also allows cervical lymph node biopsy to be practised. The skin, air bags and simulated lymph nodes are replaceable.
