Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

This training system brings unprecedented accurate quality feedback to your megacode training. It includes activities to maintain high quality BLS and ALS skills as well as time stamping all critical events into the recorder’s log. High fidelity airway in either torso or full body manikin, with advanced sensors that give accurate feedback on skills performance while the code is ongoing, plus a Skills Performance Analysis and After Action Report for debriefing.

In code

  • Perform the AHA megacode protocol
  • Practice unlimited scenarios
  • Intubate on the fly or do not intubate
  • On-screen heart rhythms, and use your own defibrillator
  • Unique button to pause a code to make a teaching point, then click continue

Critical events

  • All events logged on a timeline
  • Control and display heart rhythms
  • Drug therapy
  • Analyse, charge and shock

BLS CPR skills (AHA and ERC Guidelines 2020)

  • Compressions for 30:2, with feedback on depth, rate, recoil, too deep and hitting bottom
  • Ventilations: rescue breaths, with feedback on volume, rate and interval
  • CPR: 1 and 2 rescuer, practice and test modes
  • Special activity to improve the 2 breaths in 30:2

ALS CPR skills (AHA and ERC Guidelines 2020)

  • CPR with an advanced airway: ET tube, supraglottic airways and other devices
  • Intubate while chest compressions are ongoing, on a moving chest
  • 10:1 asynchronous CPR: continuous compressions with a ventilation every 6 seconds on an intubated patient
  • Ventilation rate, volume and interaction with chest compressions
  • Remove an incorrect intubation and resume 30:2
  • Supports AHA, ERC and ILCOR protocols; the Low Volume / High Density protocols (PitCrew, CAM, CAMP, ART, ROC) require the LV build

Delta Tidal Flow Interaction System (DTFIS)

The Delta Tidal Flow Interaction System is a proprietary technology found only in SmartMan. It provides accurate measurement, an excellent physical feel and a real time digital display of the volume, rate and timing of air moving in and out of the lungs as it relates to the movement of the chest. You physically feel when the compressor and the ventilator are working against each other, and you hear the suctioning sound of a misdiagnosed bucking the tube just as in a real patient.

Standard International Build

SKUs that do not carry LV in the code are the Standard International Build. The Low Volume / High Density protocol (also known as High Density training, ROC, CAM, CAMP, ART or PitCrew) needs a different physical build of the manikin, with reverse pressure lungs and sensors for very small volumes of air, and is sold under the matching LV SKU. An upgrade to LV capability is possible for ALS and Megacode manikins but requires the manikin to be returned for a retrofit.

Evidence based debriefing

  • At-a-glance view of skills quality
  • Critical event timeline record
  • Detailed code debriefing and quality of skills by stage
  • Quality of CPR skills and hands-off times
  • Single click produces a PDF of the whole performance
  • Graph of how the team’s actions oxygenated the brain

Trainer tools and quality control

  • Login name, password protected; one click login to the practice user
  • Auto detect manikin and sensor settings; auto re-calibrate at every activity start
  • Immediate percentage score and single click display of the analysis
  • Metronome with user selectable speed; set how many cycles and compressions per cycle
  • Add comments to results, export results to Excel
  • Create, zip and send all files to an email
  • Review results at any time without connecting to the manikin

Sold as a torso manikin. Arms and legs, an IV arm, an IO leg, a rhythm generator and a wheeled duffel are available as options.

No limit on the number of users, no user fees, no batteries and free software updates. The software runs on Microsoft Windows 10 or 11; the PC is not included. All SmartMan products carry a one year warranty, extendable to cover years 2 and 3.
