Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
Soft, skin-like silicone wrap-around sleeve with embedded reinforcing mesh that reproduces a type 1 skin tear, characteristic of the fragile skin of older people. It is hand-painted and is useful in geriatric nursing and skin care training.
The back has velcro and a separate Veltex backing fabric: the fabric is attached to one side of the piece, wrapped around the area of the standardised patient or manikin and closed with the velcro on the other side, which makes it easy to adjust the size and position.
Edges can be hidden with clothing or bandages to match the scenario, and bruising, blood or dirt can be added and easily removed from the skin and the silicone.
