Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
Airway model for training suction of secretions by the oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal and tracheal routes, with real catheters and an aseptic technique.
Construction
The nasal, oral and tracheal routes are patent, and a reservoir of simulated secretions allows the trainee to check whether the technique was effective or merely quick.
Teaching use
It serves for work on choosing the catheter size and suction pressure, limiting the duration of each pass and recognising the complications: hypoxaemia, mucosal injury and bradycardia.
What you learn
Task trainer modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
- Assess the need for suction and prepare the equipment.
- Choose the catheter size and the suction pressure.
- Suction by the oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal and tracheal routes using an aseptic technique.
- Limit the duration of each suction pass and watch how it is tolerated.
- Recognise the complications: hypoxaemia, mucosal injury and bradycardia.
