CHARACTERISTICS

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

1. Open all the FLEX-ORBIT screws and lubricate cavity FLEX-ORBIT surfaces.
2. Insert the STRABISMUS model with the OPTIC NERVE on the nasalside. Lubricate the model.
3. Secure the BASE of the eye model to the FLEX-ORBIT with the posterior screws. Confirm RECTUS MUSCLES are positioned properly so the screws pass in between.
4. Keep anterior screws retracted (or remove them). This allows for the STRABISMUS model to move freely inside the FLEX-ORBIT, without restriction. This allows simulation of traction with sutures or muscle hooks.
5. Proceed to perform surgical procedure. Once the surgical task is complete, open FLEX-ORBIT screws and remove the STRABISMUS model.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE: Follow these recommendations to maximize the life of your models:

• Store in a cool, dry and darkplace (a draweR will be fine). Extended exposure to some indoor lights or sunlight (UV) may affect material properties. Prolonged exposure to humidity or high temperatures may adversely affect material properties.
• Do not place heavy objectson top of the model’s box. Prolonged compression may deform the models.

Description

The STRABISMUS model is ideal to demonstrate, practice and perfect the surgical sequence and instrument handling of strabismus surgery. Learning to efficiently isolate muscles, create adjustable sutures, and secure permanent knots are fundamental skills for a pediatric ophthalmologist.
