SmartMan ARDS Trainer (with eSERT Power)

RSIM ARDS is a full body resuscitation simulator built specifically to develop proficiency at ventilating, whether through a Bag Valve Mask or through a tube. It improves training for patients with acute respiratory distress who have difficulty breathing and are unable to breathe on their own, and it is suitable for improving ventilation skills in other respiratory situations.

The RSIM ARDS difference

Unlike other manikins used to practise ventilating, RSIM ARDS has a new internal structure with more sensors to closely resemble a real person. The manikin creates pressure in the airway: you physically feel the air as it moves out and the resistance as you provide positive pressure. It teaches practitioners to transition from normal volume ventilation to more frequent lower volume ventilations, and to transition from ventilating with a BVM to intubating and then ventilating the intubated patient. It also provides training for moving to intubated CPR should a cardiac arrest ensue.

Real time feedback

• Air flow feedback reported to 0.01 of a second, with the exact timing between breaths
• Accurate volume of air delivered, rate of air flow and timings
• Thoracic pressures: life-like air pressures in the lungs, so volumes, flow rates and the interaction of air movement give a highly realistic practice environment
• Tidal flow, and whether the BVM is properly released

Refresher of BLS and ALS skills

Basic Life Support and advanced airway activities are included in the package and can be used as a refresher of fundamental skills. All activities are highly accurate and provide real time feedback. For many medical professionals their normal work never requires performance of these airway skills, so an accurate science based refresher is excellent preparation, including for the added difficulty of working in bulky personal protective equipment.

Team work refresher

Designed with input from front line professionals to help specialists work together in new situations, with different professionals and in new environments: high stress, people who are not identifiable because they are covered up in PPE, large noisy areas, colleagues never met before and colleagues trained in a different protocol. It provides direct training in managing team dynamics, improving communication and leadership through PPE, and the use of cues and confirmation techniques.

No limit on the number of users, no user fees, no batteries and free software updates. The software runs on Microsoft Windows 10 or 11; the PC is not included. All SmartMan products carry a one year warranty, extendable to cover years 2 and 3.
