Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

This manikin was developed together with nutrition nurses at a children’s hospital to teach families and professionals the technique for inserting feeding tubes in children. The transparent cover allows the route of the tube to be seen and correct placement to be checked.

The stomach is functional and accepts fluid, so it is possible to practise aspiration of gastric contents, pH testing of the aspirate to confirm tube position, administration of enteral feeds and administration of liquid medication through the tube. The stomach can be detached via a simple connector for cleaning.

It is suited both to clinical training in nursing and paediatrics and to instructing caregivers and families who need to manage tube feeding at home.
