This model, enlarged about 30 times, compares normal skin with skin burned to the first, second and third degree, and also shows the pathological changes that occur afterwards. The first level of injury shows damage to the epidermis and erythema; the second includes damage to the hypodermis and blisters; the third reveals subcutaneous damage.
