Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

This modular practice manikin is the universal tool for midwifery training. It was developed in collaboration with midwifery schools and makes it possible to train all the important skills. The interchangeable modules make it possible to practise Leopold’s manoeuvres, breast care, vaginal examination during birth, different birthing positions, birth simulation, episiotomy and postpartum examination. The model includes heartbeat simulation. A special material makes the manikin feel like a real person and react realistically during training. In developing the model, particular attention was paid to the details that matter
in practice. The vulva, for example, is not a simple opening: it distends like a real vulva during birth. Being a full-body manikin, this model has the advantage over other simulators of being usable in a complete scenario; for example, birth can be practised in a real birthing position.
The modules included are:
Pregnancy module
This module contains an amniotic sac with fetus (weeks 36 to 40 of gestation), a heartbeat simulation and an abdominal wall with breasts. It is suitable for practising Leopold’s manoeuvres, palpation and monitoring of the fetal heartbeat (the teacher can modify the volume and the rhythm).
The amniotic sac can be positioned in different ways to simulate different positions of the fetus inside the uterus. In addition, the model serves to teach breast care and breastfeeding. This module has been redesigned and is now made of a new material, even more realistic to the touch.
Stages of labour module
The stages of labour module makes it possible to assess the Bishop score. Three different states of the cervix and a fetal head can be inserted. The fetal head can be placed in various positions; the cranial sutures and the fontanelles are palpable. All the inserts can be rotated and modified. This module has been
redesigned and is now made of a soft, flexible material that makes it even more realistic and natural to the touch.
Obstetrics module
This module makes it possible to practise birth in all the usual positions. It serves to set up a complete training scenario. The vulva, highly flexible and made of a new, extremely stretchable material, responds very realistically and offers an ideal opportunity to practise perineal protection. The fetal doll is made of soft plastic, weighs 2.3 kg and is 42 cm long. The head circumference is 30 cm. The doll makes it possible to practise the first examination and suctioning. The highly realistic umbilical cord and placenta complete the model. The umbilical cord can be cut and the cut area can be tied off. Breech birth can be demonstrated realistically.
Episiotomy module
The replaceable episiotomy inserts make it possible to teach and practise episiotomy suturing. Each insert can be reused several times, provided that the sutures are removed carefully.
Postpartum module
Four different uterus inserts allow postpartum palpation and measurement. The module contains three normal uterus inserts (first, third and fifth day) and one pathological uterus (first day). The abdominal wall included has breasts for practising breast care.
