Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
Laparoscopic training box with camera and on-screen display, reproducing the indirect view of the operating theatre. It accepts real laparoscopic instruments and is designed for independent training outside theatre hours.
Setting up
The working ports reproduce the usual trocar layout, so from the outset the trainee has to deal with the fulcrum effect and the loss of depth perception.
Teaching use
It serves for the classic sequence of basic exercises, object transfer, cutting and precision, and for progressing to suturing and intracorporeal knot tying. The benchtop format allows work in pairs with a camera assistant.
