What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
The model reproduces a human lumbar vertebra sectioned in half and enlarged to twice natural size, with the two halves joined magnetically. One half shows healthy bone structure and the other shows the density loss characteristic of osteoporotic bone.
It can be removed from its stand for hands-on classroom use, making it easy to compare the trabecular bone of a healthy vertebra with that of an osteoporotic one at a glance.
