Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

The AirSim Difficult Airway adult intubation head provides a solution with varying degrees of difficulty for practising airway management. By accommodating intubation conditions from complicated to very difficult, this versatile model offers a wide variety of training scenarios at both introductory and advanced levels.

Model features and benefits:

Laryngospasm

  • Airway obstruction adjustable from normal to total.
  • Simulation of the sudden closure of the vocal cords.
  • Mechanical reversal of the laryngospasm to provide positive feedback after correct intervention by the user.

Displaced larynx

  • Displacement of the larynx to a more anterior position to complicate laryngoscopy.
  • Adjustable with different levels of difficulty.

Lingual oedema

  • The tongue can be inflated to simulate varying degrees of macroglossia.

Mandibular retrognathism/prognathism

  • Ability to simulate 2 degrees of mandibular prognathism, a normal jaw and mandibular retrognathism.
  • Simulation of overbite and underbite.

Trismus

  • Ability to limit mouth opening extremely, to complicate the insertion of airway management devices still further.

Neck fixation/Head rotation restriction

  • Simulation of cervical arthropathy by restricting the range of movement of the cervical spine.
  • Neck fixation/Head rotation restriction

Front-of-neck airway management

  • Simulation of needle and surgical cricothyroidotomy and of percutaneous tracheostomy.

The instructor can easily activate all the features to make hands-on training more or less complex. The features can be used separately or combined to set up scenarios with numerous levels of difficulty. It complies with DAS guidelines and is compatible with all current medical devices.

Available in light and dark skin tone.
