Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
Atherosclerosis is the most common acquired disease of arteries in developed countries. It is characterised by thickening of the arterial walls with loss of elasticity, associated with the buildup of plaque (mainly cholesterol) in the arterial lumen.
This model, approximately 10 times life size, shows the atheromatous plaque at various pathological stages, together with the local intravascular thrombosis caused by the arterial narrowing.
