Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
This training phantom makes it possible to train the ultrasound detection of deep tissue injury (DTI). The phantom has two replaceable pads at the two locations where DTI appears most readily. One pad represents the sacral region and the other the region of the greater trochanter.
The phantom has 5 different pads for each of the two regions:
– Healthy tissue, with no defect
– Mild decubitus ulcer: oedema and hypoechoic area
– Moderate decubitus ulcer: oedema and abscess
– Severe decubitus ulcer: oedema and cobblestone abscess
– Decubitus ulcer with a pocket: tissue wound and formation of a pocket
By observing signs such as the loss of the superficial fascia, the localised areas of low echogenicity and the location and depth of the abnormal findings, it is possible to confirm a mild category/stage I to II decubitus ulcer. The model also serves for the visual classification of decubitus ulcers. It makes it possible to practise classification and standard treatment, and the inserts can be used to teach the different stages.
Supplied in a storage case.
