Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
This model makes it possible to practise the procedures carried out on patients
with a tracheostomy in the field of nursing and care, both when changing the cannula and when suctioning through it. The model separates into two halves and the tracheal area is transparent, which makes it possible to check how the cannula sits and in what position the suction catheter is inside the cannula during suctioning. In addition, with the specific cannula attached, a ventilator can be operated by connecting a test lung (simulated lung, not included) to the model.
Features
– It makes it possible to practise cannula change procedures.
– As the tracheal area is transparent, the degree of inflation of the
cuff can be observed and, with the specific cannula, the approximate optimal pressure can be checked. (As the posterior wall of the trachea is soft, the compression of the trachea that occurs when the cuff is over-inflated can be felt.)
– The transparent trachea makes it easier to explain how the suction catheter
should be positioned and how to suction above the cuff. (Suctioning practice can be carried out with the simulated sputum.)
– The soft skin on the surface of the neck makes it possible to palpate the thyroid cartilage through
the skin.
– The detachable tracheal area makes it easier to explain the areas in which granulation tissue usually appears.
– A ventilator can be operated by attaching the specific cannula and
connecting a test lung, which makes it possible to check the alarm tone that sounds when
there is an air leak.
