Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
This complete, life-size torso with open back is composed of 27 parts and provides a highly realistic, detailed reproduction of anatomical structures, with all body systems fully accessible. Significant structures are numbered and referenced on the accompanying key, with further detail provided in the CD-ROM Guide.
The open back exposes the muscular layers, the vertebral column and the associated nerve branches. A thoracic vertebra, including a section of spinal cord, is removable for close examination. The head is open with the brain fully exposed on one side, and the neck is dissected to expose muscular, neural, vascular and glandular structures. The dissectible male and female urogenital systems are interchangeable.
Removable parts include: the eye with optic nerve and extraocular muscles; half of the brain, divided along the longitudinal fissure, showing internal structures and blood vessels; the trachea; the descending thoracic aorta and oesophagus; the right and left lungs (2 parts each) showing the bronchial tree and vasculature; the liver with gallbladder; half of one kidney sectioned along the frontal plane, showing its internal structure and vessels; a 2-part heart showing the atria, ventricles, valves and a section of the heart wall; the stomach dissected in 2 parts; the pancreas, duodenum and spleen with their vessels and ducts; the small and large intestines with a removable cover over part of the caecum; the male and female urogenital systems (4 parts each); and a thoracic vertebra (T12) with spinal cord.
Mounted on a base. Size: 89x41x23 cm. Weight: approx. 10400 g. Supplied with the Human Torso CD-ROM Guide.
