Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

A high fidelity manikin with a life-like look and feel. It surpasses other systems in accuracy of measurement, feedback and reporting on more parameters that matter to patients.

The system offers real depth and a simple to adjust chest resistance for more realistic practice. It detects leaning on the chest and is sensitive to movement away from the correct spot. Ventilations provide an accurate display of volume and an accurate real time display of rate as you provide air.

Accuracy

Real depth travelled and real volume flowing into the lungs. Automatic re-calibration assures the manikin stays accurate for depth, rate and recoil with full data, even after long usage, and it provides feedback for too deep and hitting the bottom. Ventilations are the only manikin system with a real time display of air as it moves in and out of the lungs, including volume, rate of flow and the time between rescue breaths, and it displays tidal flow as you perform.

Natural chest resistance

You feel the resistance on the BVM as you deliver air and the resistance within the lungs increases as you provide greater volume. It also shows incorrect release of the BVM, which allows air to escape from the lungs, so you learn correct technique. An easy to clean secondary air system makes it ideal for practising mouth-to-mouth.

BLS CPR skills (AHA and ERC Guidelines 2020)

  • Compressions: 30:2 x 2 cycles and 30:2 x 4 cycles
  • Ventilations: rescue breaths, with feedback on volume, rate and interval
  • CPR: 1 and 2 rescuer, practice and test modes
  • Jaw thrust feature; suitable for mouth-to-mouth training
  • External adjustment for different size patients

Real time feedback

  • At-a-glance understanding of the award winning coloured bars
  • Compression accuracy displayed in real time: depth, rate, recoil, too deep, hitting bottom
  • Ventilation and CPR accuracy displayed in real time
  • Feedback can be turned on or off; with feedback off the results display when finished
  • Cerebral perfusion responds in real time, displays a colour graph of fraction and shows the influence on blood flow

Trainer tools and quality control

  • Create user names, password protected; convert a name list directly into student logins and group them into classes
  • Save comments with results; save and print results with names
  • Quick print class lists with names, scores and dates on the local PC
  • Full access to student records when not connected to the manikin
  • Metronome on or off, default rate 110 per minute, user selectable
  • Set the number of cycles and the number of compressions in each cycle
  • Use with an external monitor or projector via SVGA or HDMI

Special activities

  • Ventilations trainer for 30:2: displays volume, rate, interval and total time for the two ventilations
  • BVM trainer: see the rate of air flow into the lungs, whether the BVM is correctly released and whether the volume is correct

Sold as a torso manikin. Arms and legs, an IV training arm and a wheeled duffel are available as options.

No limit on the number of users, no user fees, no batteries and free software updates. The software runs on Microsoft Windows 10 or 11; the PC is not included. All SmartMan products carry a one year warranty, extendable to cover years 2 and 3.

What you learn

Task trainer modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
