What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

The masticatory muscles (masseter, temporalis and medial and lateral pterygoids) are represented by means of elastic bands. With this model the function of the masticatory muscles can be demonstrated: closing of the mandible, opening and lateral and anterior displacement of the mandible. The calvarium is removable and the mandible is mobile.
