Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
The inserted tube can be diverted into the right or left lung, into the stomach or, via a dynamic pyloric sphincter, into the duodenum, which requires the trainee to recognise incorrect placement before securing the tube. The mouth is movable and can be opened to observe the tube curling in the pharynx during difficult insertions.
The nasal septum is divided, which also allows practice of nasal bridle placement. The lungs, stomach and small intestine all accept fluid, so aspiration and administration of feed or medication can be practised, along with pH testing of gastric aspirate. The skin is removable, revealing the transparent internal anatomy.
It is compatible with size 10 Fr nasogastric tubes, size 12 Ryles tubes and size 16 Fr gastrostomy devices.
