Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
PRECISO™ is an advanced simulator for intrauterine device insertion. What sets it apart is that it addresses the weak point of the technique: insertion is usually done “blind”, without ultrasound, and a badly placed IUD causes discomfort, risk of uterine perforation or bleeding, and the cost of repeating the procedure. PRECISO™ includes a simulated transvaginal probe that returns ultrasound images from real patients after placement, so the learner can check where the device has ended up.
It takes real commercial IUDs and real instruments: speculum, hysterometer to measure uterine length, and a portable light. Uterine length varies with the clinical case selected by the instructor, and the uterus can be anteverted or retroverted depending on the scenario.
