Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
The Pediatric Hand Phantom is designed specifically for X-Ray, CT, US, and MRI applications. This innovative medical training tool is essential for radiologists, technicians, and educators dedicated to advancing pediatric imaging techniques and improving diagnostic accuracy.
The Pediatric Hand Phantom accurately replicates the intricate anatomy of a 4-year-old child’s hand, including bones, joints, and soft tissues. This precision ensures a lifelike representation that aids in detailed anatomical studies and practice.
In terms of MRI applications, the phantom tissues have realistic T2 relaxation time values which makes this product to be best fit for any T2-weighted MRI imaging methods. Very good results can be also achieved with Proton Density imaging methods. The phantom can be still imaged with T1-weighted methods but the T1 values are less realistic and they are within the range of about 100ms.
What you learn
Task trainer modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
- Lower the technique and collimate to the actual size of the region.
- Position and centre the specimen for each projection or slice plane.
- Choose the radiographic technique and check its effect on the image.
- Adjust the CT protocol and assess the result on the reconstructions.
- Try out MRI sequences and compare the contrast between tissues.
- Apply the image quality criteria and repeat the acquisition when they are not met.

Cases and pathologies
The clinical scenarios that can be simulated with this equipment.
- Hand and wrist projections in paediatrics.
- Study of bone maturation on the image.
- Adapting the technique to a small patient.
- Acceptance testing of a unit or validation of a new protocol.
- Training radiographers and residents without exposing any patient.
Features and what's included
What the equipment does and what comes in the box, as described by the manufacturer.
Features
- Newborn or child size: it forces the technique down and demands careful collimation.
- Imaging response equivalent to human tissue in X-ray, CT and MRI.
- Differentiated internal anatomy, not a homogeneous block.
- No ferromagnetic components: it can enter the MRI room.
- It can be scanned as often as needed and exposes nobody to radiation.
Includes
- User manual/assembly instructions
- 2-year warranty and unlimited customer service
