Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

OphthoSim™ Ophthalmoscopy Training is a hands-on simulation system that radically transforms the way students learn to diagnose and treat eye pathologies. The proprietary software and the included tools empower students to actively diagnose real eye conditions in a simulated environment.

Students can use OphthoSim™ to improve at diagnosing and treating eye pathologies. They can practise identifying retinal features and monocular vision, as well as improving their ophthalmoscopic and funduscopic techniques. The OphthoSim™ ophthalmoscope detects the user’s orientation and movements, while the included eyepiece replicates the lens magnification of the human eye and reproduces its different clinical conditions.

The OphthoSim™ software includes:

  • Training and testing modules with a database of 200 high-resolution images
  • Detailed text descriptions and pre-annotations for normal anatomical references and pathological features
  • Reference marking function – allows the instructor to highlight specific features of each pathology
  • Advanced quizzes – random realistic clinical scenarios to test doctor-patient interaction skills
  • Easy-to-use graphical user interface – improves visualisation retention with an immersive full-screen experience

OphthoSim™ instructional content and features:

  • History of Ophthalmoscopy
  • Principles and techniques of examination
  • Use of instruments
  • Identification of retinal features
  • Pathology – Papilloedema, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, choroidal rupture, macular degeneration, and more
