Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

Cannulation trainer that is placed directly on the arm of a person or a manikin. Its protective thermoplastic layer softens in hot water and is moulded around the arm, creating a stable, safe surface for needle insertion.

The layered construction, silicone skin, muscle layer and integrated veins, reproduces real tissue resistance. The two veins are partially visible and fully palpable, and by keeping pressure on the proximal syringe flashback is obtained on cannulation. It fastens with Velcro and is compatible with standardised patients and static models.

The tubes can be rotated or replaced, and the small punctures that appear with use can be repaired with a silicone repair kit.

  • Extra-soft silicone skin and muscle layers
  • Flashback on cannulation by keeping pressure on the proximal syringe
  • Velcro fastening
  • Replaceable tubes and repairable skin
DIMENSIONS AND MATERIALS:
  • Weight: 0.9 kg
  • Platinum-cure silicone, thermoplastic sheet and tubing
VARIANTS:
  • Light, tan or dark skin tone

  • Place the muscle layer over the thermoplastic and seat the vessels in their grooves
  • Fasten the Velcro base and place the skin on top
  • Fill the 30 ml syringe with red-tinted water and connect it to the distal luer; connect the 10 ml syringe to the proximal luer
  • Prime the tube until the 10 ml syringe is full, remove the 30 ml syringe and hide the filling end if desired
  • Press the 10 ml syringe lightly to obtain flashback during cannulation
  • Use 22 G or finer cannulas to extend the life of the model
  • To change the tube, disconnect the luers, remove it and insert the new one lubricated with a little petroleum jelly
CARE:
  • Wash with warm water and dry thoroughly after use
  • Apply talc to matt shiny areas
  • Rinse the tubes with isopropyl alcohol to prevent mould
  • Store clean and dry in a cool place, away from direct sunlight
