Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
The soft, realistic simulated breast tissue fits over a fixed base with moulded ribs. The set includes lumps and nodules of different sizes (1 to 3 cm), shapes and densities, which can be freely combined within the model to create different examination scenarios.
The kit distinguishes three types of findings by colour: soft (pink) nodules representing normal tissue; medium (white) lumps; and hard (red) lumps, including one fixed-wall lump simulating a malignant tumour. The model also has a reddened, orange-peel-textured skin area representing inflammatory breast cancer, and a dimpled area indicating invasive disease.
It is used to teach manual palpation technique and to discuss with the student the difference between normal and abnormal findings during breast self-examination.
