What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
This model is intended for informing patients about urinary stones (urolithiasis) and kidney stones (nephrolithiasis). A life-size right kidney
is presented opened to show the internal structures. The renal pelvis, the renal calyces and the ureter are opened to show concretions and stones in the following
locations, which are the typical ones:
– origin of the upper calyceal group
– connecting tubule of the lower calyceal group, with the resulting congestion of the minor calyces
– renal cortex
– ureter
– renal pyramids
