Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

A full-term neonatal skills trainer designed for procedural training in newborn resuscitation, airway management and vascular access.

OVERVIEW

Baby SIMira is MEDICFX’s flagship neonatal skills trainer. Built at full-term scale in high-fidelity silicone, SIMira supports repeated, hands-on practice across the core procedural skills required in newborn resuscitation and immediate neonatal care. Its anatomically accurate design encourages natural interaction, helping learners build procedural familiarity in a realistic training environment.

TRAINING APPLICATIONS

Baby SIMira supports structured skills practice across the core procedural requirements of newborn life support. The replaceable airway module allows repeated oral intubation practice with consistent anatomy across multiple learners. The umbilical system, with a replaceable and cuttable cord, UAC and UVC access points and a 25 ml reservoir, supports cannulation technique practice. IO tibia inserts provide repeatable intraosseous access training. Integrated lungs with visible chest rise support bag-mask ventilation and airway positioning practice. NG tube placement is also supported.

TYPICAL TRAINING CONTEXTS

  • NLS and NRP skills training programmes
  • Neonatal airway management and oral intubation practice
  • UAC and UVC umbilical cannulation training
  • Intraosseous (IO) access training
  • Nasogastric (NG) tube placement practice
  • Hospital simulation centres and neonatal procedural skills labs
  • University and undergraduate health professional programmes

Care instructions:

  • Store away from direct sunlight and heat sources when not in use.
  • Clean with a damp cloth and mild, non-abrasive soap after each use.
  • Do not use alcohol-based cleaners, solvents or silicone-incompatible products on the manikin surface.
