Description
What this equipment is and what it's designed for.
The Adult Head Phantom (Static) is designed for medical imaging of foreign static objects such as small bone fragments, shrapnel, bullets, and other metal or non-metal targets. Modeled on an average human male head, the phantom is constructed from realistic soft and hard tissue-mimicking materials that are compatible with Ultrasound, MRI, and X-Ray/CT applications. The materials used to build our phantoms mimic the biomechanical, acoustical, and physical properties of human tissue.
The materials used in this head phantom are engineered for long-term stability , ensuring they do not dry out or degrade over time. The skull bone is cast out of our realistic patented epoxy-based bone material and features a realistic three-layered structure, including an inner diploe layer, closely mimicking human anatomy.
In terms of MRI applications, the phantom tissues have realistic T2 relaxation time values, which makes this product to be the best fit for any T2-weighted MRI imaging methods. Very good results can also be achieved with Proton Density imaging methods. The phantom can be still imaged with T1-weighted methods, but the T1 values are less realistic, and they are within the range of about 100 ms.
If you have specific requirements for your applications, please contact us at info@www.truephantom.com, and we will help you find the best solution.
Note: The size and quantity of the static objects can be customized based on your requirements.
For more imaging quality references, please see our Radiographs page.
All standard phantoms are coated with a protective layer of the harder urethane rubber to offer enhanced appearance and safeguard the phantom from any scratches when handled without care. This coated layer also provides a glossy finish and slightly changes the hardness of the phantom. The Hardness [Shore 00] for the ‘Body Tissue’ mentioned above is measured without the coat layer. The coat will increase the hardness by approximately 30 points meaning that if the body tissue hardness is OO 60, the coated body tissue will be OO 90.
What you learn
Task trainer modality. The competencies this equipment trains, in the language of the training plan.
- Check positioning symmetry before accepting the image.
- Position and centre the specimen for each projection or slice plane.
- Choose the radiographic technique and check its effect on the image.
- Adjust the CT protocol and assess the result on the reconstructions.
- Orient the probe and recognise the structures in each ultrasound plane.
- Try out MRI sequences and compare the contrast between tissues.
