Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

Adult Male Torso (Skin) for X-Ray CT, US is designed based on an average anatomy of an adult healthy human male. It is compatible with X-Ray/CT and Ultrasound. The skeleton is made from individually cast bones from a realistic patented epoxy-based composite material with vertebrae that have a realistic three-layered structure with inner porosity.

The phantom can be customized with any pathologies for learning the techniques of FAST (focused assessment with sonography for trauma), FAMUS (Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound), and any other procedural training (Pericardial effusion, etc.).

This product is a skin version of the US-A02 model . An ideal phantom for training ultrasound technicians and other medical students.

A clinical study involving the use of proton therapy was done using a customized version of our torso phantom, including additional tumors and a hollow fillable rectum. You can find that study here: Wang, S., Gonzalez, G., Sun, L. et al. Real-time tracking of the Bragg peak during proton therapy via 3D protoacoustic Imaging in a clinical scenario. npj Imaging 2 , 34 (2024). .

All standard phantoms are coated with a protective layer of the harder urethane rubber to offer enhanced appearance and safeguard the phantom from any scratches when handled without care. This coated layer also provides a glossy finish and slightly changes the hardness of the phantom. The Hardness [Shore 00] for the ‘Body Tissue’ mentioned above is measured without the coat layer. The coat will increase the hardness by approximately 30 points meaning that if the body tissue hardness is OO 35, the coated body tissue will be OO 65.
