Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

Platinum-cure silicone tabletop model that reproduces the appearance and tissue structure of a post-thyroidectomy wound. Its three layers, skin, membrane and muscle, are sutured separately with a round-bodied needle, allowing multi-layer suturing technique to be practised.

It is designed for novice learners to acquire the basics of suturing and to face the real difficulties of wound closure, tissue retraction and assisting during surgical closure. Simulated blood or clots can be added to create specific scenarios. It is durable and reusable.

VARIANTS:

USE:

Place the model on a firm surface, such as a table
If simulated blood or clot is used, insert it into the corresponding areas of the model before the session
Suture each layer with a round-bodied needle

CARE:

Wash the silicone with warm soapy water and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol
If the model has bloodlines, empty them thoroughly and rinse them with isopropyl alcohol to prevent mould
Dry completely before storing
If the silicone becomes shiny over time, clean off the oily residue with isopropyl alcohol and apply talc with a brush
Store away from direct sunlight
Punctures or damage can be repaired with a silicone repair kit
