OKULO BR8 – Cataract surgery simulator

PRODUCT NUMBER 1693

The OKULO BR8 is the ideal platform for cataract surgery simulation. Practice rhexis and phaco skills with the cataract lens module. Practice toric IOL or CTR implantation with our empty bag module; or leave aphakic and practice scleral fixation of IOLs through its flexible sclera. In addition, it’s pigmented angle allows training in gonioscopy skills and even implantation of piercing-type MIGS devices.

The ANTERIOR SEGMENT is semi-reusable and replaced after a limited number of procedures depending on user skill and surgery performed. For procedures with Incisions, mark the location of the incisions on the sclera for reference; subsequent simulations will use the same incisions.

Recommended holder: AVH HOLDER.

Compatible with with ROMANO head.

SKILLS

  • Cataract surgery
  • Capsulorhexis scenario
  • Phacoemulsification maneuvers
  • Cristaline suturing
  • Anterior vitrectomy
  • Intraocular device suturing
  • Angle visualization
  • Capsular devices
  • IOL Implantantion (in bag or sulcus)
  • Scleral fixation of IOL
  • FLACS (with Flex Orbit and OKULO complete)
  • Gonioscopy skills
  • Instrument manouvering skills

CHARACTERISTICS

KEY FEATURES:
  • The OKULO ANTERIOR SEGMENT (AS), with BROWN iris and 8 mm pupil (BR8) features a self-sealing, transparent cornea, a pigmented angle, a flexible iris, sulcus space and a compliant sclera, allowing multiple surgical scenarios to be performed.
LENS ASSEMBLY: There are a variety of lens options, each one suitable for different scenarios. Refer to the lens instructions for use for additional information.
  • BASIC, NON-SURGICAL: Basic, non-surgical, lenses are solid and therefore more durable than surgical lenses. Use the OKULO BR8 with the BASIC LENS for simulation scenarios when the lens is not the surgical target, like in Gonioscopy, MIGS scenarios or for diagnostic imaging (slit-lamp, OCT, UBM, etc)
  • CATARACT LENS: Surgical lenses allow capsulorhexis and phacoemulsification maneuvers to be practiced. The lens can be replaced to re-use the ANTERIOR SEGMENT multiple times.
SETUP OPTIONS: The OKULO ANTERIOR SEGMENT can be used with three different eye holder platforms (SOLD SEPARATELY). Review your choice of eye holder platform instructions for more details:
  • MINI-HOLDER: For a basic and minimalist setup while simulating eye movement.
  • BASIC ORBIT HOLDER: Platform for the added challenge offacial features.
  • FLEX-ORBIT HOLDER: Platform for whole globe models, offering most realistic and flexible setup. (Requires OKULO COMPLETE model with posterior segment).

INCLUDE

  • 1 Anterior Segment BR8
  • 1 Storage box
