Description

What this equipment is and what it's designed for.

This life-size torso, with an open back, is made up of 28 parts and provides an extremely realistic reproduction of anatomical structures in fine detail. All of the body’s systems are represented with full accessibility.

The left side exposes the most significant superficial and deeper muscles, together with the vessels and bones. The open back shows the muscular layers, the vertebral column and the associated nerve branches. A thoracic vertebra, including a section of spinal cord, can be removed for close examination.

The head is open, with the brain fully exposed on one side, and the neck is dissected to show the muscular, neural, vascular and glandular structures. The dissectible male and female urogenital systems are interchangeable.

Removable parts include the eye with the optic nerve and extraocular muscles, half of the brain (divided along the longitudinal fissure) with its internal structures and blood vessels, the trachea, the descending thoracic aorta and oesophagus, the right and left lungs (2 parts each) with the bronchial tree and vasculature, the chest cover and the mammary gland.

All significant features are numbered and referenced on the accompanying key card. The model is mounted on a base.
