Adult simulator for ultrasound-guided femoral venous access

PRODUCT NUMBER 4300

Adult simulator for ultrasound-guided femoral venous access

PRODUCT NUMBER 4300

Provides the opportunity to access vessels in both extremities, doubling the number of access points. Develop and practice ultrasound imaging skills, including the use of ultrasound system controls and transducer placement and movement. Learn to recognise arterial and venous anatomy and identify deep vein thrombosis (DVT). For regional anaesthesia procedures, practice femoral nerve guidance and simulated anaesthetic injection.

SKILLS

Training on femoral nerve block anaesthesia is available, including:

  • Ultrasound operating techniques
  • Neurovascular identification
  • Puncture positioning
  • Local block anaesthesia

Training may be performed on femoral vascular puncture and catheterisation, including:

  • Ultrasound operating techniques
  • Neurovascular identification
  • Puncture positioning
  • Vascular puncture
  • Guide wire placement
  • Catheter placement
  • Catheter fixation

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Precise anatomical structures of the femoral blood vessels and nerves:
    • Aorta
    • Inferior vena cava
    • Common iliac artery
    • Common iliac vein
    • Internal iliac artery
    • Internal iliac vein
    • Femoral artery
    • Femoral vein
    • Greater saphenous vein
    • Femoral nerve
    • Iliac fascia nerve
    • iliac and inguinal ligaments
    • and other vascular structures
  • To simulate the characteristics of real blood vessels, veins that are not filled can be flattened with the probe, arteries that have pulsatility cannot be flattened with the probe, arteries in the model are filled with simulated red blood, and veins are filled with simulated blue blood
  • After successful puncture, the return of blood can be seen
  • Surface markers such as the pubic symphysis are available
  • Simulex tissue has self-healing properties, allowing over 1000 punctures to be performed when used with an 18-21 gauge needle
  • Realistic simulated anaesthetics can be injected and the diffusion of the anaesthetics observed
  • Successful puncture can demonstrate blood return
  • Simulate arterial pulsation with the hand pump

INCLUDE

  • 1 Adult lower limb simulator
  • 1 Support base
