Medical skills trainer to practice lower extremity (leg) bleeding control with realistic wound and bleeding simulation. It is the perfect tool to enhance pre-hospital care training through instructional and practical bleeding control training including wound packing and tourniquet application. This simulator is especially suited for Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and civilian casualty training.

The Haemorrhage Control Training Leg is a simple and affordable solution to realistically learn how to control bleeding and treat traumatic injuries to the thigh. Trainees will gain confidence in dealing with complicated bleeding by practising tourniquet, wound packing and amputation techniques.

The training leg consists of three distinct wound patterns:

  • Deep laceration (approximate 4 cm penetration) in the genital area.
  • Gunshot wound (GSW) with entry and exit at the upper thigh
  • Amputation at knee level

CHARACTERISTICS

GENERAL:

  • Manual blood pumping system delivers artificial blood to each wound separately or to two or three at a time in any combination.
  • Various scenarios of pulsatile arterial or venous bleeding.
  • Direct visual response, stopping bleeding by mechanical occlusion.

BLEEDING CONTROL PROCEDURES:

  • Tourniquets to extremities
  • Wound filling
  • Application of haemostatic devices
  • Dressing of large wounds/wounds
  • Knee drop technique

TECHNICAL FEATURES:

  • The trainer simulates an adult male leg amputated at the knee with very realistic external anatomy.
  • The skin is made of high quality SKINlike™ durable silicone to simulate human skin and feel.
  • Includes bony landmarks and palpable blood vessels.
  • Direct response: bleeding stops (by mechanical occlusion of blood vessels) when a tourniquet has been properly applied (placement and closure).
  • A tourniquet can be applied high and tight or 5-8 cm (2″-3″) above the wound.
  • Each wound can be concealed with a specific cover to create modular injury scenarios
  • Each wound can bleed separately.
  • Designed for field use: rugged construction, no batteries or external power needed
  • Easy to clean and transport in the carrying bag (included)
  • Cost-effective realistic simulator for frequent training sessions

BLEEDING SYSTEM:

  • Safe blood reservoir (2 litres) with manual blood pumping system simulating pulsatile arterial or venous bleeding.
  • No backflow of blood into the reservoir while refilling the wound for uninterrupted simulation.
  • Contains 250 ml of artificial blood concentrate to prepare 2 litres of blood.
